[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 280px; height: 410px; background-color: #E0EEEE; border-left: 20px solid #AFEEEE;] I sat on the swing set, the toe-tips of my Converse shoes touching the ground while I slowly rocked back and forth. The chains on either side of me creaked slightly, and the warm black rubber under my bottom was dipped in a slight U shape. Ade Park was empty, a sight that was rarely seen in Eden. Light filtered through the leaves above me, making bright beams across my vision. I could see all of the dust motes in the air, rushing around like a tiny little storm system. A large, expensive Nikon camera hung from my neck. I sort of wanted to take a picture of those dust motes. Immortalize the lovely little objects forever on a little piece of photographic paper, to be put into a scrapbook for all eternity. I felt that familiar little pulse that went from one end of my body to another, and everything stopped moving.
Stopping time was a very interesting thing to do. When I stood up, my swing seat was still frozen in that little dip, and the leaves had stopped rustling. The midday traffic had been made exponentially worse, as all of the cars were frozen into place, their drivers looking at the road as if it was going to slap them. Or rather as if it had slapped them. A fountain stood in the middle of the park, round, ornate, and depicting an angelic woman, and godly man, both in spread-eagle position, with their arms raised to the heavens. Water bubbled at their feet, and overflowed into the bottom pool. I picked my camera up, and aimed for the beams of light. I captured the moment perfectly, because the dust was frozen in a way that made it look like the graph of an atom. I smiled, and sat back on the swing. Everything moved once more.
Watching time start back up was more interesting than seeing it stopped. Everything sort of blurred for a moment, and then ran at normal speed. I wondered if I could just randomly pick and choose what places I could freeze, but I didn't want to risk some poor guy watching time stop before him. I brushed my hair behind my ear and resumed swinging, this time with more enthusiasm. I felt like a little kid; free and careless while I swung my legs back and forth. For a moment, I wondered whether birds felt like that; free. For all I knew, I could have just asked one. Hell, for all I knew, I could randomly float in the air, natural laws be damned. But I just continued to swing, feeling like a five-year-old, and perfectly content. |

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more
Alden had decided he was going for a new world record in the category of “How many times you could almost be run over in one day.” He was sure if such a category actually existed he would he have got it about an hour after he stepped out of his house, let alone now. No, now he was just making sure that no one could ever beat his record in their lifetime. It had started with a simple nearly stepping out in front of a car- fair enough, accidents happened. But then he was just being stupid, surely, not even looking at the road before he crossed it. He must have been distracted, or at least he would use that as his excuse, he was more interested in looking around the actual town instead of looking at the fast, metal vehicles heading towards him on the flat surfaces named roads.
Apart from the general life threatening situations he was planning on throwing himself into for the rest of the day he had fund the town very interesting. Knowing him he would get lost at some point of the day, it didn’t matter how small or big a town was, he could certainly manage it. There was also the fact he had managed to get lost in his hometown plenty of times in the past year, quite a feat considering the fact that he had lived in the same place for seventeen years and you would have expected him to know the way around. How was he supposed to know the whole thing though? He knew certain ways, how to walk to school, how to walk to the beach and the high street... apart from that, drop him off in a random street and it would take him quite a while to work his way back to his own house. Maybe it was just him he knew plenty of people that would know the whole place. Ah, he was just awkward then. It made sense.
He found the part to be quite eerily, weren’t parks supposed to be full of children or at least people? It was what he would have expected, not the empty sight that he saw. Oh, he say a few people just outside of it but not many in. They could be busy or something, shopping... chores, something along those lines. He had managed to get himself out of being busy just a few hours ago himself, knowing his mum she would just insist that he help unpack his dads things while he was out. Why it couldn’t wait until he came back Alden had no clue, but saying you wanted to go have a quick walk was a good plan. A quick walk that took a few hours may be overdoing it a little, but he didn’t mind, it wasn’t as tedious as sorting out clothes or belongings. Oh yes, his mother had picked thrilling work for him to do.
Stopping his walk through the trees he looked across towards the playthings, noting the girl that sat upon the swing. Oh. He didn’t know what to do. Would it be rude to ignore her? Probably, but then again he was sure it’d be weird to have a complete stranger walk up to him and start talking not that he had anything to say. He just wanted to be polite... simply that, if it could be helped. He let out a small sigh and looked at the canopy of leaves above him before shaking his head at himself, he was just being an idiot, like always then. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 280px; height: 410px; background-color: #E0EEEE; border-left: 20px solid #AFEEEE;] I couldn't help but think that the world around me was abnormally and sort of depressingly quiet. Like one of those small, brightly-lit rooms that you see in asylums, but with more nature, and less medication.
le wip, because I'm getting bored. |
